The Future of the Better Edmonton Party

After a few weeks of quiet contemplation, I have decided to step back from my role with the Better Edmonton Party.

A little more than a year ago, a team of dedicated Edmontonians set out on a bold, audacious journey, to form a municipal political party and change the narrative around civic elections in Edmonton. We brought forward ideas rooted in common sense, accountability, and responsible representation. We started a conversation.

I am extremely proud of our efforts to build a new political association.  I am grateful to our campaign team, our volunteers and the Better Edmonton leadership team whose tireless efforts and unwavering support of my Mayor and 12 other Council campaigns made this one of the most enriching experiences of my life.

The Better Edmonton Team is a group of extremely capable people, determined to continue the conversation, to engage the residents of Edmonton on core city issues and to build towards the next election. They deserve our ongoing support.

I am equally proud of the work of my Council office team during our eight years representing the residents of ward pihêsiwin. Serving on City Council for eight years was the privilege of a lifetime, and I believe that, on the whole, we did pretty good work.

Thank you Edmonton. It’s been an honour.
