During our townhall in November 2023, I committed to hosting a townhall in early 2024. I hope to continue our conversation regarding budget and gather feedback ahead of an important conversation on March 12th.

In-Person / Virtual Townhall: March 10th

Please join me for an in-person / virtual townhall meeting on Sunday, March 10th from 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm at the Terwillegar Community Recreation Centre: Multi-purpose Room #4. Details on how to join virtually are below. You are not required to RSVP ahead of time.

At the townhall meeting we will focus heavily on the Operating Budget Adjustment 12 (OP12). This directs City Administration to identify another $240 million in savings. It is my intention to have community conversations about the suggestions that City Administration brings forward, to more clearly understand your priorities. On March 12th, Council will make decisions on OP12, which will ultimately impact your taxes.

We will deep dive into OP12 on March 10th, however, if you would like to further review attachments related to this item please click here and scroll down to Public Reports - 7.1. These are the attachments that were presented as information to Council on February 21st.

I understand that you may have additional topics that are not included in the above list. If there is something specific you would like me to address at the town hall, please send an email to [email protected]. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions during the townhall on March 10th.

Please note, I will do my very best to address all the questions asked. However, if you still have a question following the conversation, please complete the question form provide at the entrance of Multi-purpose Room #4. Alternatively, you can always email me at [email protected].

I strongly encourage you and your neighbours to come join in on the conversation! Here are the details on how to participate:

Public Spaces Bylaw

City Council recently discussed the Public Spaces Bylaw in February.

I released two blogs regarding this topic and I encourage you to review them:

As noted in the second blog, Council referred the Public Spaces Bylaw back to Administration to complete a comprehensive Gender Based Plus analysis, a climate review of environmental stewardship of open spaces and specifically the river valley, a rationale for fine changes, a jurisdictional scan of municipal fine amounts and a detailed review of the 50 person gathering permit requirement and amplification systems. The conversation continues about this Bylaw once this report is provided to Council.

Should you be unable to attend the townhall on March 10th, please feel free to share your comments or questions with me by contacting my office via email or by calling 780-496-8130.

Thank you and I hope to see you at the townhall on Sunday March 10th from 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm at the Terwillegar Community Recreation Centre: Multi-purpose Room #4.
